Gay Marriage Scores A Win, Celebrities Tweet Reactions

It was a massive victory for gay marriage advocates today (June 26) when the United States Supreme Court ruled that California’s Proposition 8 is unconstitutional.

The justices came back with a 5-4 decision, declaring that marriage doesn’t have to only be between a man and a woman, which will start the ball rolling for a federal gay marriage sanction.

President Barack Obama tweeted, “Today's DOMA ruling is a historic step forward for #MarriageEquality. #LoveIsLove,” while Kristen Bell chimed in, “You’re damn right DOMA is unconstitutional!! #equalitymatters.”

“Girls” star Lena Dunham proclaimed, “Don't wanna traffic in stereotypes but let's be real: I'm gonna love a gay wedding,” and Adam Lambert penned, “Down w DOMA! Something to be very proud of this upcoming July 4th. We are making beautiful progress for Equality! #proud”

“Modern Family” stars Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Sarah Hyland noted respectively, “Victory for marriage in California as #Prop8 is struck down. Small but substantial steps toward #MarriageEquality for all!” and “AND no standing on #prop8?? Same sex marriage is legal in california! I better be getting some wedding invites... #whatdoiwear?”
