“I’m sorry for embarrassing Nigerians but I don’t regret all I said at the chase” – Beverly Osu

Two days ago,  Beverly Osu and Melvin Oduah (Nigerian housemates at the just concluded #BBATheChase) had a press conference at Protea Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Beverly Osu on recounting her personal experiences in the Big Brother House disclosed thus:

“In BBA House, the experience was awesome. Though it was challenging, God really saw me through. It is something everybody should look forward to participating in.

I don’t believe I was cheated during the grand finale. Housemates from West Africa were not only united but, we dominated the House. Whoever won the show really deserved to win. For me and Melvin, having made it to the finals, we are equally winners in our own rights. At least, we brought something home to show for our efforts.

Having sex with South Africa’s Angelo!

I did not have sex in the House. I had a relationship with Angelo Collins but we did not have sex. I loved him and I still love him. I am a blunt person and very real.  People that knew me before BBA know that I don’t pretend to be who I am. If it happens, you fall in love, you can’t fake it. I did not have sex with Angelo.

I was under the bathtube, but we never had sex. Maybe, the camera made it look so. Everybody gets naked to have their bath, so I don’t think it is wrong for me to be naked when I have my bath too. There was no way. I couldn’t be different because I went for a reality show. So, I should not be judged by what people saw during the show since I didn’t intentionally bring out my video for all to see. .Big brother did that.

Winning strategy

I am a very blunt person. Melvin can testify to this claim because he stayed with me for ninety one days in the House. I was only talking to my fellow Housemates. And I don’t regret anythin I said about myself and my family. This is because if I have to be on this platform, people have to know the real me and what I have been through.

On her plans for the future

I’ll continue with my online reality show “Beverly Says” and I’ll complete my education. I also intend to go into acting. I’m a 200 level student of the National Open University of Nigeria, where I am studying Mass Communication.

My mum’s reaction

My mum has tutored me very well. Even if the whole world rejects me today, my mum can’t reject me. I love my mum so much. I’m her only daughter and the last child in the family. I have always been there for her, just as she has always been there for me. I will not disappoint my mum intentionally by saying she this or she’s that…

Embarrassing Nigerians

I don’t feel happy about it because this is the first time, I represented the country in any continental competition. But the fact remains that if you didn’t go for it, you wouldn’t know how it’s in the House. I wasn’t there with my cell phone to be able to communicate with the outside world. I was just there alone.

I’m sorry for embarrassing my country. I didn’t do it intentionally. My participation in the show was not to embarrass my country. I am a proud Nigerian.

On featuring in a porn production by Afrocandy

I heard about it. Thanks for the offer but no. I participated in BBA to be myself –

Melvin on the other hand had this to say:

On the experience

Considering that I and Beverly were chosen to represent the country and the fact that we were in the House from the beginning to the end, made our participation in the show remarkable. There are a lot of people who don’t know anything about Big Brother. For me, I learned a lot of things while in the House.

My journey

I contested for 2009 Gulder Ultimate Search, and I emerged the first runner up.
I contested for Mr Nigeria in 2011 and again, I finished as the first runner up.
Now, I contested for Big Brother Africa-The Chase and also finished in the fourth position. But I am not The Chase.
I think we can also take time to look at the positive side of the show. It is not easy to participate in these major competitions and making to the finals. So, I think I should be given some credit.
It is also painful when you have worked so hard to make it to the finals, only to miss winning the ultimate price.

His future plans

I’m taking my acting career to the next level.

Winning strategy

Before I was chosen to represent my country, I was regularly asked what winning strategy I would adopt while in the House. I kept repeating the same thing “I was going to be myself and nothing else. The Melvin you meet in real life was the same Melvin you watched in the Big Brother House. Nothing about me was unreal or done to make people like me or hate me. I thank Nigerians for voting for me . I will always be a proud ambassador of the country.

I used to scare boys when I was younger – Omotola Jalade-Ekehinde

Omotola Jalade

“I have two younger brothers and was a tomboy, fiercely independent. I used to scare boys from a very young age. They found me too much, because I knew what I wanted and I’d boss them around. In those days my mother would joke that I would never find a husband.”  screen goddess disclosed in a recent interview with a UK-based newspaper, Telegraph.
She stated that she had two younger brothers and that rubbed off on her making her a tomboy, adding that her mother used to make jokes that she would not find a husband, ironically she met her husband when she was 16 years old.
A daddy’s girl while growing, Omotola said that she was close to her late father who used to treat her like a boy. Her father, a manager of Lagos Country Club, died in an auto crash when she was just twelve years old.

She said, “My father was a different kind of African man. He was very enlightened. He always asked me what I wanted, and encouraged me to speak up. He treated me like a boy.”

I took a nude role because the pay was right – Fast rising actor explains

Enugu-based, fast-rising Nollywood actor Benson Okonkwo in a recent interview with Blueprintng.com, cleared the air on his daring roles in movies.

Here’s what Ben said in an  interview with Blueprintng.com

Talking about the movie that brought you out, there is a particular movie about gays which has gotten you more accusations and criticisms than accolades. Could you talk about it?
I have promised myself that I will no longer talk about the movie. It’s really funny that Nigeria is a country where people attribute an actor’s role to his real life character.
If I’m given a role to play and I played it excellently, does that make me that character in reality? Yet, it is the same Nigerians who will be first to point fingers at those actors that do not act their movie roles well.
It’s quite funny that because I played a gay role then I’m automatically gay. So if I played the role of a police officer, does that makes me one? I just have to thank my fans who repose so much confidence in me, that’s all.

Are you saying that you are not truly homosexual like a whole lot of people believe?
My brother, what else do you want me to tell you. Please, I’m very busy.

Most of your fans have been asking why you had to star in such a movie, yet you keep denying that you are not gay.
I just told you I was doing my job. Period! Why should I call myself an actor if I can’t play a movie role perfectly? Tell me!
And there is another issue here: I’ve noticed that so many people, because of their own mischevious and dirty minds, would fail to look past the sexual scenes in a movie when there are way too many morals to learn. Like most movies, that movie you are talking about was used to pass a message across to the public.
But if some people refuse to grab those messages and choose to focus on those things that satisfy their lustful and mischievous minds, then it’s no one’s fault.

I also heard there is a new movie you just did in which you acted totally nude in a scene. Tell us about it.
The name of the movie is “James Town.” It was directed by an A-list Nollywood director and scriptwriter, Ifeanyi Onyearbor.
My manager, Mr Brown Ene, is a good manager and he called me up and we negotiated and I took the role. It’s a must-see movie.
Now before you start to asking me why and crucifying me, that’s the character I was givien to play. It warrants me to go nude at a point in the movie. It’s a serious movie.
So like I said, as an actor your ability to interpret any role given to you is what makes you a good one. So Nigerians should understand that I was only doing my job. it’s just a movie. It’s a ghetto movie and I was one of the lead characters in it. I also took the role because the pay was so right. It’s coming out soon; I’m sure people will enjoy it. It starred Nollywood stars like Queenth Hilbert, Patience Ozorkwo a.k.a Mama G, Gbenga Richard and musician, Vicko Kings. It will be available in all cinemas.

You are obviously one of the few actors not afraid to go to any length when it comes to your job. What challenges do you face, especially from the public?
The challenge is nothing more than the regular criticism. You come out in public and when people recognise you, they start to look at you strangely. But I’ve developed a very tough skin to criticisms.
I have come to the realization that whatever you do, even if all you do is just do nothing, say nothing, fold your arms and close your eyes, people will always criticize you no matter who you are, so just do what makes you happy as long as you know you are not hurting anyone.
I will always be grateful to my fans who have been encouraging me.

How did you join showbiz?
I started modeling at age 16 and started acting professionally at the age of 23. I have always loved entertainment. I used to act when I was in primary and secondary schools.
Even in our church, a Catholic church, I acted every Good Friday. I used to take the part of Jesus Christ.
I also did dramas with friends at home. My mom noticed this talent, called me and said ‘Benson, you have to go into acting professionally.’ She gave me some money to register with Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), which I did in the year 2008.
Since then, I have featured in over 30 movies and I’m still counting. Also, I have modeled for Zain (now for Airtel), Wema Bank, Nestle, Gold Circle Condom, Rainbownet, First Bank, Orange Drugs and many too numerous to mention. I have lost count, but I give God the glory.

Apart from acting, you also run a boutique and saloon.
Yes, I have love for fashion and beauty.  I’m known for looking good. My nickname is Mr. Packaging and I was nicknamed that because of my dress sense. It’s just simply because of the way I combine colours and all.
My salon and boutique are in Enugu; Colectibus Unisex Salon. It’s where my fellow actors come to have their hair done, and also my fans. I went into the fashion business because of my love for fashion and style and to reach out to my fans. It’s an exquisite place for distinguished and sophisticated individuals.

You are currently one of the candidates for the “Sexiest in Nollywood” contest. Could you throw more light on that?
I was nominated for Nollywood Sexiest Actor both in the Ghana and Nigerian categories. We were above 150 when we started the quest and now we’ve been screened to 20 and I’m on the top five. I thank my fans for their votes so far.
I believe that I’m going to win because I’ve got a charming smile, great height, romantic eyes and good posture and I’m a head turner any day.
Jim Iyke won the first edition and Desmond Elliot won the second. I’m in the top with the likes of Ramsey Noah, Yule Edochie, Van Vicker and John Dumelo. It’s strictly by vote and I believe I’ll win with the help of my fans who have been voting.

You sound like someone who has got the ladies at your fingertips?
That’s normal. I won’t deny that I’m a lady’s man, but one needs to be very disciplined. My mom taught me to be disciplined and treat ladies well.

Wizkid is Nigeria’s king of the twitter

WizkId, Ayo Balogun has got every reason to beat his chest again, even going as far as calling everyone “broke” this time around with a bit of a smirk on his face as another feat has been added to his mounting heap of honours and accomplishments.
*Wizzy doing his thing
Though the 24-year-old met a lot of big guns on the scene but it appears he is out-muscling them on the popularity contest by a long stretch. The twitter followers check reveals the  ‘Pakurumo’ crooner has followers totalling over 720,000 while next in line to him, D’Banj, Tuface Idibia and close rival Davido are a long shot away, with the closest person with followers less than 400,000 people.

For sometime now, leading social media, twitter has been the litmus test to measure popularity, especially among entertainers the world over. Lady Gaga got so big she felt she should have a social media of her own, hence ‘Little Monsters’ was born.

North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un, publicly executes ex-girlfriend

North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un recently ordered the public execution of his ex-girlfriend Hyon Song- wol, accused of ‘pornography’ with a group of artists from the National Orchestra of Unhasu, which his current wife Ri Sol -ju also once belonged to.

The arrest took place on August 17, the execution took place in public three days later.

According to the indictment the women filmed themselves having sex and then sold the videos in China. Some South Korean sources claim that there were many Christians among those sentenced to death who had a Bible at home, a “crime” that you can pay for with your life or imprisonment in a state gulag in North Korea.

Those shot to death include Mun Kyong -jin, director of the Unhasu orchestra, some singers and dancers of Wangjaesan Light Music Band and some army musicians. All family members of the women involved were sentenced to forced labor. According to the Juche ( the delusional state doctrine conceived by the ” father of the nation ” Kim Il -sung ) is not enough to punish those guilty of a crime, but it is necessary to eradicate the evil ” for three generations . ” Every year, on the basis of this principle, thousands of children are born in labor camps and live there until their death.

The “Young Marshal ” Kim Jong-un , the third son and heir of the “dear leader” Kim Jong -il, met Hyon about ten years ago . After a brief “official” relationship, the engagement was broken by the father of the dictator and the singer was given in marriage to a military man, while the “third Kim ” met his present wife . According to various sources, the two have continued to see each other even after their marriages. The public execution is thus seen as a victory of the “Companion” Ri, who gave two sons to the current dictator and wants to ensure their survival in one of the most cruel dynasties in today’s world.

On 8 August, the dictator took part in a concert performed by the now decimated orchestra. The execution is viewed by some analysts as a sign of affirmation of his power: ” Kim Jong-un is cruelly eliminating anyone who might be a threat to his rule, anyone who can defy authority. Public executions are silencing anyone who even thinks of undermining him . “

‘Frank Edoho and I should not have married’ – ex-wife Katherine opens up

In a recent interview with TheNetng, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’ host Frank Edoho’s wife, Katherine Obiang, who has three kids for the TV host talked about her 7-year old marriage to Frank.

Katherine_and_Frank_Edoho_599070757-572x360

See excerpts below:

How are your kids?

They are great.

And how are they taking the whole divorce issue?

We are not really divorced. It’s still a work-in-progress kind of thing but we are taking it well. When its time for him to see the children, he does and when its time to return them, he does. On my part, I
have carried the children along and make them understand they are not stained because of it. I wouldn’t want them to develop a complex because of it. We didn’t design for these things to happen but they do. It’s like people who have lost their parents, they didn’t plan for it but they have to move on. I watch them and I think they are doing pretty okay especially because we talk about it every time there is a reason to.

You mentioned that you aren’t really divorced. Does that suggest possibility of reconciliation?

No, it doesn’t. We just started the process but there isn’t any hope for reconciliation. We know we would always be in each other’s lives because of the children, so we have to be civil. When the children are getting married for example, we have to hide our differences and make it work.

What if he (Frank) came back, would you consider it?

No. Three years have gone by. It will be a whole entire process of knowing somebody all over again and I don’t have the energy to do that. We’ve let it burn and I don’t think he will do that.

Do you sometimes miss him?

He had such a great sense of humor. I don’t know if he still does. His sense of music too, being a radio presenter, and we used to exchange thoughts on things regarding that, but otherwise, I don’t miss him in that nostalgic way of…It’s a part of my life I have come to terms with. I am a solution oriented person. He was part of my life for more than 10 years (dated for four years and got married for 7 years).

Looking back at everything, do you wish you never got separated?

No, I think Frank and I should not have gotten married in the first place. We should just have been friends because he was an awesome friend. While I was dating someone else and he had to go back to his country, he (Frank) was there all through and I had known him all the while he was in the University of Calabar and we started our career together. I think we shouldn’t have pushed it to marriage and just stayed as friends.

Any regrets about that?

No. I have three lovely kids to show for it and of course, every thing happens for a reason and a purpose. They can only make us better or stronger people and it has done so for me. I have grown from what went wrong.

What is usually the cause of the fight?

I think it’s impatience, anger and not knowing how to deal with issue in the now, so you react before you think. It goes like, ‘huh, how dare you say this to me…is that what you will say?’ I can’t remember any one in particular, it has been long now, I have moved on and it’s not a thing that can happen to me again but I always say no matter what, a man should not raise his hands on a woman. A woman should also not goad a man too much. It takes nothing from the man who walks away because once he hits a woman, he starts to think it is justifiable. Unfortunately, we are in a society where we have friends that will give you thumbs up for doing that. A man should be calmer and not react on the now.

Are you making efforts to ensure that your son isn’t wrongly influenced by this?

I have a son and I talk to him all the time. I let him know he must be there to protect his sister. They should look at him and feel safe with him and he knows that. The girls also push him and I caution them, so it’s a balance.

Were you hit by the rumors of his recent marriage?

I didn’t want to believe he was because we are still married (legally). We are not divorced, so I didn’t see how that was possible and didn’t loose sleep over it. I’m not asking him not to go on with his life but things should be done properly. We are separated for three years and now in the divorce process. If he found happiness and love, then I’m happy for him.

Will you be trying your hands on marriage again?

You just never know.

If you would, what kind of man would he be?

You come to a point in your life where you can’t afford to do things out of adrenaline but with great thought. It would be a more mature person, someone who is calm and has a fine sense of how life should be. Someone who is mature, wise and seen life and the ways of the world and knows what he is doing at every time.

When you think about all that has happened, does it bring tears to your eyes?

No, I feel a sense of disappointment instead especially now when the children come home with questions that I need a man to answer, if he (their father) were around. For example, someone to be there for my son at a time when he is writing his common entrance examination. It’s a feeling of disappointment, but you know, we have to rise above them and you go on.

What was your reaction the very first time it happened?

I’m like these things happen in marriages but we think of reconciliation and getting families involved. It is your first trial in marriage and nobody gives a guideline about how things are going to be.

Apart from being part of the Project Alert, what other steps have you taken to help women who are battling with domestic violence?

I talk to them but in the end, I let them know, the decision is theirs. A friend of mine was involved in this and after we talk, she will go back to him. No matter what platform there is, it rests on the individual. It is what I have arrived at. I still share my story when I have the chance to.

Stars React To Miley Cyrus’ MTV VMA Performance (photos)

It’s no secret that she shocked the world with her overtly sexual stage antics at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards last night (August 25) and Miley Cyrus received a decidedly negative response from many of her celebrity peers.

The “Party in the USA” singer writhed around all over the Barclays Center while singing her hit song “We Can’t Stop,” before Robin Thicke came out for a duet of “Blurred Lines.”

And Cyrus couldn’t contain herself, twerking up on the married father-of-one and rubbing her crotch with a foam finger prop.

After the performance, comedian Kevin Hart joked, “Miley better get a… pregnancy test after all of that grinding.” However, others stars were less loving in their remarks.

Nick Cannon tweeted, “Remind me to never let my kids into showbiz… Thanks,” while Brooklyn Decker wrote, “I’m so uncomfortable.”

Additionally, Jaime King penned, “A certain mortification swells over me when I watch particular performers.”

And from the audience, folks like Rihanna, Willow Smith, Will Smith, and Jaden Smith all looked utterly disgusted as they observed the former Disney darling getting her freak on.

Taylor Swift Tells Harry Styles To “STFU” At 2013 MTV Video Music Awards (video)

She’s never been shy about slamming her ex-boyfriends, and Taylor Swift had four simple words for her former flame Harry Styles during the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards last night (August 25).

While Harry’s band One Direction was on stage addressing the audience, the “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” singer turned to her gal pal Selena Gomez and said, “Shut the f*ck up,” just as the camera panned over to her.

Additionally, T. Swifty had more biting words for Styles as she accepted her award for Best Female Video for “I Knew You Were Trouble”- she gave a shout out to, "who I wrote this song about cause you know who you are and now I have this award."

In a previous interview, Harry commented on Taylor’s tendency to pen ditties about her failed relationships- "It would be hypocritical for me to say she couldn't do it because everybody writes songs based on personal experience. At least she's a great songwriter!"

“The community service isn’t a problem anymore. I’ll do whatever duty I need too to [sic] fulfill my requirements as a man and a leader.”

‘You don’t call people who made you poor” – J martins blasts wizkid

Here’s what J Martins said in a recent interview on Hot Fm 98.3 Abuja about Wizkid’s unfriendly reply to a fan who teased him on going back to school.

I’m not taking any side, don’t mean no beef, no disrespect, and no hate but let the truth be told.

I don’t believe because you feel you have a few change you didn’t have a few years ago and which you cannot guarantee having in a few years to come then you wake up and look at those people who have cheered you up, loved you, supported your music, bought your CD’s, prayed for you, just because you can lay your hands on some phone and you call them ‘poor’.

Am not in and will never be in support of anyone who has such bad attitude. It needs to be corrected, we owe our fans the duty of being good examples that’s why they hold us in high esteem, that’s why you are a role model and if you know you cannot be a good role model you have no business in Music.

You don’t know if it’s that person that might help you tomorrow, whoever does that should be checked.

I don’t feel bad about dirty stories written about my mum — Omotola Ekeinde’s daughter speaks

One major problem most celebrities have with the media is being projected in negative light  and Nollywood actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde,  has had her own fair share.

From a controversial photo taken at the Grammy Awards few years ago to her alleged sex scandal with Sifax boss, Taiwo Afolabi.
Recently, some rumour mongers alleged that the prominent movie star got N10 million from Afolabi for her birthday celebration.

My Dad wept when Buhari made him his running mate — Tunde Bakare’s daughter reveals

Bakare and his family

Tunde Bakare and family

In a recent interview with PUNCH , Pastor Tunde Bakare’s daughter, Olubunmi Bakare – a Political Science graduate from the Emory University, Atlanta, United States – disclosed that her dad actually wept Gen. Muhammadu Buhari made him his running mate for the 2011 election.
When asked if Tunde Bakare discussed his election campaign process with the family, Olubunmi said
“Let me tell you a story about that. I was the only one at home the day Gen. Muhammadu Buhari called him. He was downstairs and I was upstairs. After receiving the call, he ran to my room and broke down in tears. I have never seen my dad cry except for some scenes in one or two Nollywood movies.
I have not actually seen him cry. I asked him what the matter was. He said Gen. Buhari just called and asked him to be his running mate. He said people would think his stance on the state of the nation was for political office whereas it was never his intention. I told him the development was totally different from what he stood for because I know that the overriding interest of my father is the growth and development of the country.
I remember some of the things he had told us when he was growing up about his love for Nigeria’s advancement. I also remember the dream I had earlier about my father having a significant role to play in the reshaping of Nigeria. I then told him to accept the offer because I know he has a very pure heart.”

How did you feel when he lost the election?
The family accepted the outcome with a sense of pride. This is because a lot of people see so many things that are wrong but when it comes to the point of laying their lives and everything they have on the line, they shy away from that responsibility.
We were all involved in the electioneering. Though not all of us were around but my mother, siblings and I were with him when he was on the campaign tour. My father did his best. He also accepted the outcome in good fate. But I know that ultimately, he did what he was supposed to do at that moment in time and the end will justify the means.

If he decides to contest again will you encourage him?
Definitely I will. My father is not a rash man. I know him to be extremely thoughtful. He reflects and prays. I know that whatever he does is because he has clarity in his spirit and God will support him. He is not doing all of this because he wants anything for himself.
By God’s grace, he worked hard and God has favoured him.

On her relationship with Don Jazzy, she disclosed that “he was her very first” while she had this to say about Iyanya, “When I hear people say I have dated Iyanya before, I find that funny. I mean, this someone I have only met once or twice. I am a fan of his music just the same way he is a also a fan, but If I don’t even know him personally, how do I date him? Why they say these things, it is because they know I don’t respond to these things.”
