MBGN Controversy: Miss Ebony, Miss Gombe quit beauty pageant
Will the controversies trailing Silverbird’s Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria beauty pageant ever vanish?
A few days after the beauty contestants were unveiled, two contestants have already exited the camp: Ujunwa Amanda Onwudilo and Ifunanya Nledo who represent Miss Ebonyi and Miss Gombe respectively have left the pageant due to a number of reasons.
Reports say that Onwudilo (22) decided to quit the competition for ‘personal reasons’ while Nledo (23) was asked to leave because she failed to meet requirements mandated by the organizers.
A rep for the pageant Alozie Uzoukwu could not be reached as he did not respond to his phone calls nor reply our SMS enquiry.
Controversies have trailed the beauty pageant since 2011 when Miss Taraba, Sylvia Nduka was ‘surprisingly’ announced winner.
In 2012, a pageant veteran and 2004 contestant Isabella Ayuk was chosen as winner, months later she was reportedly disqualified from the Miss World beauty pageant.
